I've tried several auto mounts for my iPhone 4, and this is the best I've found so far. It's made of tough plastic that is also somewhat flexible -- I don't fear snapping a piece off as I have with other mounts. It can be a bit of a challenge to attach the clips to vent slats, and even more of a challenge to remove them. Fortunately, with some fiddling, you can slide the holder off the clips, which gives you more room to disengage the clips from the vent slats. I travel frequently, including overseas, and have used this unit in many rental cars. I disassemble it and drop the parts in a zip-lock baggie for transport. It's true that your iPhone won't fit into this mount with any case on, even a slim one. I reduce the hassle by using a minimalist case that covers just the back and sides of the phone, so it's easy to pop off and on.

Fit right into my impala center driver vent. Seemed a little flimsy at first, but I tightened the nut on the ball joint and it firmed right up. I am capable of pushing the home button without the swivel moving and can use the touch screen with ease. This is not the cadillac of mounts, but is perfectly adequate for my daily use, and for the cost.

Very flimsy...not as advertised...didn't work very well with my vents in my 2008 Mitsibishi Outlander. Ended up snipping off the arms and clips and just velcroed the swivel mount plate to dash...wouldn't reccommend...very disappointed
